ANNUAL GENERAL MEEETING

Chairman’s Report The Chairman who was unable to be present sent a report which thanked all Officers & Bowlers who helped to make 2010 Competition a success once again with special thanks to Mrs Chamberlain (Brian’s mother) who sponsored the WPA in memory of her late husband also thanking Brian Chamberlain for providing such a wonderful buffet etc following the finals. The Chairman appealed for any who could assist when needed at the qualifying venues.

Treasurer’s Report Jim Paton as usual gave a comprehensive report on the financial state of WPA together with a full balance sheet which indicated in spite of losing the support of Marstons we came out with a credit balance of £112.06 paying special mention that WPA had paid out the full amounts promised to bowlers on finals day he however warned the meeting that this had only been achieved through using revenue from the 2011 qualifying round at CYD.

Following a protracted discussion the decision was reached that for the 2011 competition the prize monies at each of the qualifying venues should be £30 for group winner & £10 for runner up.

Tournament Officers Report Geraint Jones thanked all for last years successful competition in spite of the fixture clash at Conway but stated his disappointment, which was also shared by all his fellow officers, that the WPA was not fully supported by as many of the players who were potential Welsh County members as we would have hoped but realising that family, work & other commitments were partly the reason.

Merit Table It was fully debated by the meeting & proposed that in future the top sixteen (16) players in the merit table would be automatically included in the potential county squad for selection for Wales together with players who through various acknowledged commitments were unable to play WPA.

Sponsorship A full debate ensued on the issue with particular note on the difficulty in obtaining global support from major companies due in part to their commitment to the 2012 Olympics, it was decided to appeal to each member of WPA to endeavour to obtain a personal sponsorship with particular emphasis on when the WPA round was to be played in their own locality, a package deal for sponsors is being set up to encourage potential support i.e. Links to Web pages, banners, clothing adverts etc details of full proposals will be issued following further meetings, it was also proposed that any sponsorship could be part or all of the players financial commitment to the competition.
