JULY 2007 NEWSLETTER

 

WELSH SENIOR TEAM

 

          The Welsh Senior Team defeated Greater Manchester both home and away and have qualified for the semi final stages of the British County Championship for the first time since 1992.. They now play against Warwick + Worcester on Sunday 5th August – the venue to be announced.

 

 

WELSH JUNIOR TEAM

 

            The Welsh Junior Team defeated Derbyshire on Sunday 8th July and qualify for the British Junior Supplementary Final in August 18th at Todwick Parish Bowling Club, Sheffield.

 

 

WELSH LADIES TEAM

 

          The Welsh Ladies Team defeated Staffordshire on Sunday 8th July and hope to qualify for the Ladies Consolation Cup if they can defeat Shropshire in their final match on July 29th.

 

WELSH JUNIOR MERIT

 

          The Welsh Junior Merit was held at Sychdyn on Sunday 17th June. In an exciting final, Daniel Jones (Deganwy) defeated Aaron Jones (Beaumaris) 21-16. Daniel and Aaron will represent Wales in the British Junior Merit Final in August.

 

WELSH SENIOR MERIT

 

          The Welsh Senior Merit was held at Criccieth on Sunday 24th June. After an exciting and exhilarating day’s bowling John Bailey (Llanrwst) defeated Carl Bonatti (Bailey Hill) 21-20 in the final. John defeated Julian Parry (Denbigh) in the semi-final, whilst Carl overcame Chris Slater (Colwyn Bay RBL) in the other semi-final. John Bailey will represent Wales in the Champion of Champions in September. John, Carl, Julian and Chris together with Graham Dulson (Esclusham) will represent Wales in the British Merit Finals at Pennfields Bowling Club, Wolverhampton on Saturday 28th July.
