Threeways Welsh County Championship
Rules
The purpose of this competition is to provide an event
with a high standard of competitive bowling, the opportunity to play
intermediate bowlers (under 25) and have a good social day out.
Intermediate bowlers (under 25) who show potential to play for Wales will have
the opportunity to compete under similar conditions, gain experience and be
recognised.
1.
The Welsh County Championship will be a
one-day event held annually at a venue determined by the President of the
WCGBA. The venue will have two greens or two greens in close proximity.
2.
Each County/Area Association will enter
a team.
3.
The event will be played on a round
robin basis.
a.
Games to be 21 up
b.
The Area champions will be the team
which scores the most points over the three matches. If a draw on points,
the greatest difference on the overall aggregate will decide the winner.
If still a draw the teams will select a player from their Squad to play 11 up.
c.
A team will score 2 points for the
highest aggregate and one point for each winner.
4.
The day will be organised by two WCGBA
officials and the four Area/County team managers.
a. The start order in which
County will play each other will be determined as follows; Presidents
Area
v Deputy Presidents Area
Immediate Past Presidents Area v Remaining Area
b.
Team
sheets and squad list to be sent to the Area secretaries two weeks prior to the
event. No practice is allowed once the green(s) and squads have been exchanged,
subject to the rules in relation to normal competitive games. Should this
action occur, then the player should be barred from taking part in the match.
c.
A
team sheet, in playing order, for the first match and a squad list, is to be
submitted on arrival to the official in charge.
d.
Subsequent
team sheets, in playing order, will be submitted to the official in charge and
at that point the opposition team manager.
e.
Officials
and players nominated for the first match to arrive at 10.00am for 10.30am
start.
5.
The squad will consist of 18 players,
which will include a minimum of 6 intermediate bowlers who are under 25 years
of age. A squad list should be forwarded 7 days prior to the event to the
WCGBA Chief Executive. A squad list, with the under 25 bowlers identified, can be
re-submitted on the day.
a.
An under 25 bowler will be deemed as a
player who has not reached 25 on 1st January of the year in which
the competition is played.
6.
A team will consist of 10 players, which
must include 2 intermediate bowlers.
a.
Six intermediate bowlers must play a
minimum of one game each.
b.
One home bowler may be included in the
squad.
c.
The Official-in-Charge will on receipt
of the two teams pair off the relevant numbered player of each team.
d.
The sequence (odd or even numbered) for
lead of jack will be decided by a toss of a coin prior to the match.
e.
All players must be present and
available to take the green when called. If a player is not present at this
time then his/her opponent is awarded the game 21-nil
f.
All player must be registered with the
B.C.G.B.A. and the W.C.G.B.A.. In default, a player will forfeit his/her game
21-0 and the matter will be reported to the W.C.G.B.A. for further
consideration.
g. All
players are subject to random testing for drugs. Any bowler who refuses to sign
a declaration that he/she signifies his/her willingness to be tested during the
competition will be reported to the W.C.G.B.A. who shall immediately suspend
that player from taking part in any competitive bowling pending an enquiry.
7.
Prize money will be paid to all
teams. Winner to receive £150, second £100, third £75 & fourth £50.
The Championship Shield to be presented to the winning Area/County Association.
8. In the event of any matter arising not covered by these rules then the decision of the Officials In Charge is final and binding.
