WCGBA CAMPAIGN

A JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK

The Welsh Crown Green Bowling Association is launching a major campaign for 2010 which has some important aims –

·         To increase the opportunities for all our current crop of junior players to play competitively

·         To seek to bring into our sport many more junior players and to give them also the chance to progress and bowl competitively.

·         As part of this campaign you will find in the junior section, a letter from the WCGBA Junior Bowling Administrator David Walker, informing you of the first part of that initiative.

The establishment, right across the Association of Mini-Leagues to run on Friday evenings. The purpose will be to allow young people to bowl competitively against other youngsters and, of course, to allow the Welsh Team Selectors to see how well the young people cope with the stress of competition. Please do your utmost to support this venture.  We feel it could prove to be very important for the Welsh Crown Green Bowling Association and our entire future as a sport.

·         There are also discussions going on with a plan to hold a major event for the juniors in mid-season. The aim would be to get as many juniors to the event as possible and give them the opportunity to play as many games as we can. They would have fun but also bowl seriously.

The arrangements for this event have not been finalised and will be discussed at the meeting on March 31st.

Let me stress that this is an ‘Open’ Meeting.  We want as many clubs represented there as possible; so please try to attend and bring along your ideas on how we can really provide this new framework we are looking for.
